The Hustle Horrors Series

This will be a departure from the other posts on my blog, but I wanted to share my Hustle Horrors Series of poetry. My upcoming posts will all be themed around toxic Hustle Culture, working during and after the pandemic, how companies treat their employees, and the struggle that all workers go through. Although my own experiences center around a 9 to 5 office job, I hope people in all jobs or career paths will be able to find something they relate to in these poems.

Maybe no one will read this series, but to me it has been very therapeutic. I have undergone my own struggles the past few years in my non-writing career, and this series is born from that. I also have found inspiration from all the stories I’ve seen in the news, on LinkedIn, or from my own friends and family.

Too often the livelihoods of employees are sacrificed for the bottom line, and people laid off viciously and without warning via a video call. Despite that, most social media posts are brimming with toxic positivity or false cheer. It seems that is the face we all must wear after losing out on a job interview or being laid off. But there are darker, more despairing thoughts that run through our heads. This series is all about those darker, more difficult emotions.

And as a reminder, this series is a work of fiction. Names, characters, business, events, and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events or companies is purely coincidental.
